PRP therapy involves harvesting platelets from your own blood in order to treat problem skin. When used for skin rejuvenation, PRP releases growth factors into the skin to expedite the body’s own repair process and stimulate new collagen and elastin.
What can you expect the PRP procedure? The skin will be red and flushed, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn, for 5 hours to 2 days. You may also experience mild swelling and tightness. Side effects are temporary and typically resolve quickly. Total healing time depends on the depth of the treatment, skin type, and skin condition.
When will you see results? Most clients typically notice an immediate glow, but visible improvement takes about 2-4 weeks and can continue for up to 6 months.
How many treatments will you need? A series of 3-5 treatments spaced 3-5 weeks apart is ideal for optimal results. Some conditions like deep wrinkles or scars, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks, and acne scars may need more treatments.
What is the downtime with PRP? There is minimal to no downtime. You may have redness, slight swelling for 1 to 3 days. We ask that you avoid the sun and stay make-up free for at least 24 hours.
Who can have Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy? To undergo PRP therapy, you should be in general good health and you should have realistic expectations of the outcome. Most people are suitable candidates for PRP therapy. You can not have PRP therapy if you are pregnant, nursing, have platelet dysfunction syndrome, critical thrombocytopenia, hypofibrinogenaemia, haemodynamic instability, sepsis, acute & chronic infections and have chronic liver pathology.
